For hydrocarbon-based liquid spills in marine environments

Marine sorption booms are used for containment and sorption of hydrocarbon-based spills in water. Saturated marine booms remain buoyant and do not discharge the spillage under normal sea conditions. When a saturated marine boom is removed from the water, the spill comes with it, thus removing the hydrocarbon from the watercourse. All marine booms come with integrated snap hooks, allowing for quick and easy joining; this is more economical as the length can be easily adjusted. The short lengths make handling easier and reduce the risk of mess during decontamination work.

Marine sorption booms are available in two variants. An open-net “spaghetti” boom for higher viscosity (thicker) liquids, and a sock-in-net boom for lower viscosity (thinner) liquids.

Also available are surface sweeps and mops. Sweeps are used for the removal of oil sheens from the surface of water, while mops are designed to collect heavy hydrocarbons from the surface of the water and clean contamination from uneven or rough surfaces in marine environments.
