This research has involved numerous experiments, trials and observations with various breeds of horses and horse supplements within Australia.
The most significant observation of this research being that the general level of well being is below what is required for satisfactory equine health and performance. Research shows this applies to approximately 80 percent of all performance horses.

What makes our products more effective?
High bioavailability, compatability, quality, economy and balance are key issues when supplementing a horse’s daily intake. Wherever possible, nutritional additives should be sourced from ingredients that have been through the processes of growth (organic). In this regard more detailed labelling of products needs to be provided for consumers. This is happening now with human supplementation. Cells that make up general body tissue have numerous memory receptors and identify nutrients and foreign matter accordingly. In general terms nutrients are either referred to as organic or inorganic elements.
Inorganic elements have much lower bioavailability than organic elements.
Adverse effects of inorganics
- Cells receive little nutritional value from inorganic matter such as phosphates, sulphates and oxides.
- Inorganic compounds contain metal atoms which can be toxic whereas organic compounds do not.
- Inorganic supplementation has low bioavailability, 5% to 20%.
- Inorganics leave waste deposits in numerous parts of the body including organs and joints.
- Nutritional deficiencies are also an issue with inorganics.These can include calcium, magnesium, potassium, selenium, copper and zinc plus many other trace minerals.This is simply due to their low absorption rate.
- Long term intake of inorganics can cause immune and digestive disorders, stunted growth, poor bone and muscular development, reproductive disorders and lethargy.
Conversely organic elements have none of these issues and have absorption levels ranging from 30% to 70%.
Inorganic verses Organic?
Our research through extensive field work and blood analysis has proved that organic supplementation is far superior to inorganics. Put simply, horses in the wild will only resort to eating inorganic matter when certain nutrients are not available in general pasture. We need to remember that inorganic matter is derived from the earth itself. The cost of inorganics can vary from 20 cents to 40 cents per kg. whereas organic matter can vary from $2.00 to $20.00 per kg. This is where consumers need to be aware of what they are paying for. If a label does not state the origin of the mineral contact the manufacturer and request a specification of the particular item or items. eg. zinc, as with zinc oxide (inorganic)? Which has about 12% absorption.

What about the cost?
Our research has also shown that organic nutrients which are ocean sourced have higher bioavailability and are more stable in the body when metabolised.
